Be part of a dynamic development team responsible for business-critical SCADA system operating 24/7 to ensure the real-time balance of Engie’s power perimeter across Belgium, France, Germany, and the Netherlands.

This assignment is part of global program, that aims to implement a new SCADA platform based on AVEVA System Platform / OMI for real-time steering of industrial assets.

You will work on this program by designing solutions that support real-time decision-making and interaction with Power Dispatch, Energy Management, and Transmission System Operators (TSOs). These solutions help continuously balance production and consumption within our portfolio, while supporting the stability of the grid.

Context

• Support real-time control of production assets, including renewable and flexible assets
• Provide integrated automation solutions for Remote Dispatching Centers
• Translate operational needs into SCADA solutions that remain aligned with the Group-wide harmonization program and its target AVEVA System Platform / OMI platform
• Integrate new flexible assets, such as renewable power plants and Battery Energy Storage Systems
• Continuously adapt systems to evolving energy market mechanisms
• Enable automation of decision-making processes to support ancillary services delivery

Your specific role

The current SCADA landscape is evolving towards a new standardized platform based on AVEVA System Platform / OMI. In this context, we are looking for a Senior AVEVA System Platform Solution Expert capable of combining hands-on development activities with strong technical leadership.

The consultant will work as an integrated member of the development team and will actively contribute to the design, implementation, validation and industrialisation of the future SCADA platform while helping the organization establish sustainable standards, best practices and governance around AVEVA technologies.

The role requires a consultant able to challenge technical choices, structure solutions, support architectural decisions and guide both internal developers and other external contributors.

As a senior Aveva System Platform expert, your responsibilities will include:

• Solution Design & Technical Leadership
  • Define and maintain AVEVA System Platform modelling standards
  • Define reusable object templates and engineering conventions
  • Support architecture decisions related to AVEVA technologies
  • Challenge proposed technical solutions and ensure consistency across projects
  • Contribute to long-term maintainability and scalability of the platform
  • Review technical deliverables produced by project teams
  • Participate in technical steering discussions with architects and senior stakeholders
  • Support the industrialization strategy of the future SCADA platform
• Development & Engineering
  • Develop, test and maintain applications based on AVEVA System Platform
  • Design and implement ArchestrA object models and templates
  • Design and implement advanced OMI visualisation concepts
  • Develop ASP scripts and business logic
  • Contribute to application design, technical analysis and effort estimation
  • Support migration activities from existing SCADA environments towards the target platform
  • Participate directly in implementation activities together with the organization’s developers
• Integration & Operations
  • Support installation and configuration of System Platform, OMI and Historian
  • Design integration strategies for industrial communication layers
  • Participate in troubleshooting of complex platform issues
  • Perform root cause analysis for critical incidents
  • Support production environments and 24/7 operational activities when required
• Knowledge & Collaboration
  • Coach developers on AVEVA best practices
  • Support knowledge transfer towards the organization’s teams
  • Contribute to technical documentation and engineering standards
  • Participate in Agile / SAFe delivery teams

Requested profile

Education & Experience

• Master's degree with a specialization in IT and/or electrical engineering (e.g., ingénieur civil, burgelijk ingenieur, industrial engineer, in software, electronics or electromecanics)
• At least 8 years of relevant experience
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience on Aveva System Platform in industrial production environments
• Experience gained through close collaboration with AVEVA, AVEVA-certified organisations, recognised AVEVA ecosystem partners, or equivalent organisations is an asset
• Proven experience defining industrial software standards and reusable engineering approaches
• Experience mentoring engineers and participating in technical leadership activities

Place of work and office hours

• Your office will be at the organization’s location in Linkebeek, Belgium
• A minimum presence in the office of 3 days per week is required. Work@home is allowed for the remainder of days, if possible depending on the assignments you will be working on.
• Flexible hours apply, with a workday that starts no later than 09:00 and does not end before 16:00.
