Service description:

What we are not looking for:
A Project Manager, a Product Owner, a Tech Lead, etc. disguised in a Scrum Master because it’s the open vacancy. We receive in average 50 resumes and more than 60% are PM/PO/TL who has the “knowledge” of the SM role.
A renegotiation of the price once the candidate is in an Intake because the candidate did not agree on this rate but you wanted to come first in the list. Please align on the rate with the candidate before applying.

What we are looking for:
Transparency and honesty on the application. If the candidate has not yet embrace the role of a Scrum Master in different companies for at least 3 years please write a very good motivation on why Scrum Master is her/his new career move. We are looking for a long-term collaboration with someone who will focus on the delivery as well as the people in the team. Agile hard skills and soft skills are equally important to us! There is a 1h30 interview to deep dive into this.

General info of the assignment

Elia Group started to implement Lean more than 10 years ago with Application Development and Maintenance (Business Analyst and IT) and some projects in the business (outside IT) with the Scrum framework. With a strong focus on the energy transition Elia Group started its digital transformation scaling certain area of the company with different Agile Frameworks. We are aiming for the minimum valuable standardization across those areas. The Agile Chapter main ambitions are to focus on empowerment, frequent delivery and customer value.
We deeply trust that Agility will support the Digital transformation needed to embrace the Energy Transition.
More or less 60 FTE are dedicated to the support of the teams.

We are looking for a Scrum Master:
We need a very pragmatical profile to inspect & adapt to the necessary support around 5 teams with different levels of maturity.
We aim for stable teams. We will ask you to commit for at least 6 months support without changing teams.
To start ASAP with a full time contract (5 days/Week).

The Scrum Master helps individuals to adopt the right mindset and behaviors, the teams to embrace continuous improvement and the organization to truly collaborate with the Agile teams:

  • Soft skills & hard skills
  • Facilitate over solving
  • Adapt to the need over doing by the book
  • Working team over working product

Fact based oriented: you are able to measure and collect data (delivery metrics, team health, customer satisfaction) in order to able the teams following the impact of their improvements on their delivery.

Team up with the existing Agile Chapter team:
Main mission: integrate 5 teams, improve their way of working and enables their culture.
Two days a month equivalent: participate to our Agile Chapter team events

Requirements:

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Proactivity with the ability to act at different level on the whole system outside the team while not forgetting the individual team members
  • You are passionate about metrics for evidence based development approach
  • Know, own and apply, also for themself, the Agile mindset (value and principles)
  • Able to provide a positive and constructive feedback for improvement
  • Ability to work fully independently & plan Scrum activities without supervision while stayed aligned with the chapter’s goals
  • Proven work experience as Scrum Master
    • at least 3 years
    • at least has been part of 2-3 different teams as a Scrum Master
    • in a different context than IT: plus
    • for more than one company: big plus
  • Language: Fluent in English is mandatory + Fluent in French OR Dutch (German is a plus)
  • Mastery of several Agile project/product management approaches (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) to be flexible depending on the team needs
  • Team virtual and physical facilitation skills & focusing on creating the right environment for the team
  • Strong interest in innovation and eager to experiment new techniques
  • Knowledge of Design Thinking Process and related methods and tools (nice to have)
  • Knowledge of UX design/development frameworks (nice to have)

Additional information:

  • Location: Brussels
  • Onsite presence: By default, a physical presence on site is required for 2 days per week.
  • Work regime: Fulltime
  • Meeting and desk activities will be split between the two Elia Group locations in Brussels, and occasionally the 50Hertz Netzquartier in Berlin (2 days working at the office per week on average).
  • In case of travels to Germany, Elia will cover all costs.
